Job Description

-As a VSO volunteer you’ll live and work in some of the world’s poorest communities. By sharing your unique skills and experience you’ll help generate new ideas and new ways of doing things, helping the communities you work in lift themselves out of poverty.

The Job holder is saddled with the following responsibilities:
-Support project implementation which includes data collection, monitoring of cooperatives farmers groups progress and documentation
-Provide day -to- day logistic and management support in the delivery of Improving Market Access and linkages for the Poor and marginalized farmers
-Facilitate capacity building for farmers on Good Agronomic Practices (GAP) and resource management to improve agricultural production for household consumption and commercial enterprises.
-Provide support to both Partners and National Professional Volunteers on intervention areas: Farming as a Business, Group Strengthening, Value Chain model, Policy and Advocacy.
-Maintain relationships with key project stakeholders and assist community level project advocacy in project locations.
-Bi-weekly monitoring and supervision of VSLA groups established in the project communities among cooperative/small scale farmers.
-Provide support to smallholder’s farmer on ICT (using social media for products adverts, market information and networking).
-Assist with Project Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Knowledge Management activities.
-Perform other activities such as monthly activity reports as requested by VSO partners/ CBOs.

-Allowance: As a VSO volunteer you will work on an ad hoc basis, performing activities for VSO / your community during your free time. Expenses you incur while volunteering for VSO are reimbursed (be more specific if applicable).
-Accommodation: If you are not able to work from your own home, VSO will provide basic accommodation (including utilities).
